Cone Beam Technology is Now Available in Peoria and Glendale AZ

In our latest efforts to improve the delivery of orthodontic care in our practice, Affiliated Orthodontics recently added Cone Beam 3D technology to our list of leading edge services.

What is Conebeam 3D Imaging?:
Cone Beam 3D imaging uses digital technology to produce clear, complete views of a patient’s face, teeth, jaw and other details such as enlarged tonsils, adenoids, and blocked airways which contribute to an orthodontic problem.

The patient sits in a chair while a scanner projects a cone-shaped beam of X-rays and circles around the patient’s head, gathering data that will produce clear and complete images on a computer screen at various angles and magnifications for accurate evaluation and diagnosis of their orthodontic problem.

Finger Habits Damage Teeth in Peoria, Glendale & Surprise AZ

Thumb Sucking at Affiliated Orthodontics in Peoria AZRemember the days when you may have sucked your thumb or finger? Maybe you don’t want to admit it, but it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Most children suck their thumb or fingers at some point in their early life. This happens because babies are born with a natural sucking reflex that can turn into a way to calm or soothe them. As long as this form of comfort is a phase which eventually goes away, it can be seen as a natural thing and not too much of an issue. However, if it continues beyond ages 5 to 7, it can become a serious problem.

Orthodontic Residents Visit Affilliate Orthodontics To Experience the Real World

Senior residents from the Arizona School of Dental and Oral Health visited Affiliated Orthodontics to learn more about the finer points of treating orthodontic patients in a private office setting.

Dr. Womack is an Invisalign instructor at the school, in addition to travelling all over the world teaching orthodontists the finer points of Invisalign treatment.

This particular group of dental students was unique. Dr Davis’s new Son-in-law (married to Morghan) was in the group. He is finishing dental school at UNLV and is applying for his orthodontic residency next year.  We have high hopes for him to join our practice when he completes his orthodontic studies.

Affiliated Orthodontics’ Patients beware: Halloween Treats Can Bite Back

Halloween is a fun time of year for kids of all ages… but can be a “nightmare” for an orthodontic practice if patients are damaging appliances eating the wrong treats.

At Affiliated Orthodontics we love Halloween!! However, we also are proactive educating parents and patients of the potential hazards that can occur if orthodontic patients don’t watch what they eat.

October is National Orthodontic Health Month. Dr. Womack and Dr. Davis support the American Association of Orthodontics in their efforts to make patients aware of foods they need to avoid, especially with Halloween goodies.
